Union of Asian Chambers

Conceptualized by the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and duly consulted with the founding Member Associations, the Union of Asian Chambers (UAC) is established with an aim to make the 21st century, an Asian century and make the world a better place. Headquartered in Kathmandu, UAC should work as a major non-partisan Economic Forum in Asia for strengthening the base of Asian economic cooperation, its deliberations and annual convention will essentially involve the Member Organisations, industry institutions, investors, innovators, economic diplomacy officials, economists, development thinkers, and media. Among the key focus areas of UAC will be: Policy Advocacy & Thought Leadership; Research & Market & Intelligence; Conferences & Exhibitions; Trade Facilitation (EoDB) & Investment; Connectivity & Green Mobility; Climate Change & Sustainability; Promoting Asian Unity.

 

Challenges affecting global trade associations

  • Getting member associations to connect with each other
  • Government policies and legislative issues
  • Supply chain disruptions caused by COVID-19
  • Trade rule-making has not kept pace with changes to the global economy
  • Trade barriers that prevent the trade from occurring Global Political- Economic Uncertainties

 

What will UAC do?

It shall improve conditions in which businesses operate by improving markets within and beyond Asia. The association will also ensure that businesses have adequate access to human, financial, and natural resources.

 

Role of Member Associations

  • Co-operatively conduct activities aimed at improving the welfare of the union
  • Create a system for governments from member countries to work together on enhancing trade policies
  • Represent members’ grievances to respective government
  • Facilitate Innovation linkages between investors in the association
  • Monitor trade activities between member countries regularly to identify trade barriers and inefficiencies
  • Provide physical infrastructure for SME Incubation
  • Provide physical infrastructure to conduct some of the events for the Association
  • The revenue source for the Association is through payments for workforce training/ business intelligence / matchmaking services
