Urging to Indian investors to invest in Nepal

 

The government and the private sector have urged Indian investors to invest in Nepal. This request was made in a program organized to welcome officials and industrialists of Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industries who came to visit Nepal from India.

Industry, Commerce and Supply Minister Dilendra Prasad Badu said that the government has made legal and procedural reforms for the ease of investment in the program organized by Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce, Confederation of Nepalese Industries, Nepal Chamber of Commerce, Federation of Nepalese Cottage and Small Scale Industries in coordination with the Ministry of Industry. He said that in the budget of the current financial year, the limit of foreign direct investment has been reduced from 50 million to 20 million, and he has adopted a one-pronged policy. He said that the private sector of Nepal played an important role for the economic development of Nepal. He urged Indian investors to invest, saying that India and China are major markets for investment in Nepal.

Chandra Prasad Dhakal, the Acting President of Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce, said that India has political, social, cultural and economic relations with Nepal and said that Indian investors can invest confidently. He said that Nepal is an important investment destination for Indian investors.

Bishnu Kumar Agarwal, President of Confederation of Nepalese Industries, urged for investment by giving examples of Dabur Nepal, Unilever Nepal and other companies that have invested in Nepal and have made many times the profit compared to the initial investment. He said that there are many opportunities in the fields of cement, mining, hydropower, and information technology. Informing that 77 Nepali products have been given customs and quota free facilities by the US, he said that there is a possibility of high returns in Nepal.

Chairman of Nepal Chamber of Commerce Rajendra Malla, President of Federation of Nepalese Cottage and Small Scale Industries Umesh Prasad Singh discussed the social, cultural and economic aspects between Nepal and India and said that a suitable environment has been created for investment in the fields of tourism and infrastructure.

President of Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Bramha Mishra said that Nepal is a suitable destination for investment. He said that the respect and warm welcome shown by the government of Nepal and the private sector of Nepal to Indian investors has given them new enthusiasm and energy.

In the program, B2B discussions were held between Indian and domestic investors in the fields of energy, mining and real estate, steel, textiles, agriculture, food and packaging, services and tourism, education, health, and information technology.
